English 10, version 04 (Print)

The aim of English 10 is to promote personal and intellectual growth through the exploration of different social perspectives. Through reading and listening to a variety of fiction and non-fiction selections, students will be encouraged to think about the world around them from their own and others points of view. Students will express their own perspectives on the various issues and themes discussed in this course through personalized responses, such as journals and discussions, and through the more formal representing and writing projects, such as the multi-paragraph composition. By the end of this course students will be able to connect their personal experiences to broader social contexts, and do so in a critical, creative, and articulate manner.

English 10 is comprised of five modules, of which students will complete three, as well as an Exam Preparation Package. There are four possible pathways through which a student can complete the course. Each pathway presents a different level of difficulty, with Path One being most accessible for struggling students, and Path Four being the most challenging for stronger students. Teachers can use the results of the Introduction Assignment to help stream students into the most appropriate path based on their skills and interest.
